I have just spent 1 hour reading through these here postings...
and have not been able to come to any clear decision as to what to buy.
I would really appreciate some advice/experienced opinions.
I need a real good snow tire that will also resist hydroplaning and
handle dry conditions well. I do drive fairly hard but am willing
to give up some performance for wet/winter safety... it's been kind
of scary on my very old pirelli winter tires.
I have a 90 Passat wagon which is very heavy with 195 60 14 tires.
I think I would buy the Pirelli P190/210's but discount said they are
discontinued and the direzionale don't come in my size.
So far I've read good things about:
Dunlop D60/A2 - most favored apparently but aren't great in snow and wear fast...
Bridgestone Pot RE930 - good all around but not great in snow...
Michelin Rainforce MX4 - supurb handling and quiet, but $$$ and no snow...
Firestone SH30 - A true snow tire - no real definitive info...
Sumitomo HTR4 - good price dunlop sister looks like bargain & pretty - but in snow...
Dunlop wintersport40 - ???
Firestone winterfire - ???
Ahhhh my head....
