After getting a couple of good New England months experience with my set of Alpins (on 96 Passat sedan), I must say I'm very happy with their performance in both ice and snow. We've had the gamut of conditions here this winter, with a lot of icy roads and snowy condidiotns (no big accumulation yet). I get very good starting, stopping and side support in turns. Compared with my other car (this a 95 Passat wagon), which has a set of Briddgestone Blizzak (older model?), I'd say I prefer the Michelins.
BUT (and a big BUT!), I find the Michelins to be extremely noisy on wet roads. I'm talking jet engine whine in shallow puddles and certain types of roadway materials. ANybody elese hearing this? Or am I just being picky.
