In the I30, safety is no accident. To the engineers at Infiniti, there's only one thing more important than being prepared for an accident: having the ability to avoid one altogether. That's why every I30 is equipped with active safety features, like engine speed sensitive steering and an anti-lock braking system (ABS). But just in case you run into the unavoidable, the I30 contains a host of passive safety features like dual air bags, side door guard beams and crumple zones.
Crumple Zones
In the front and rear of every I30 , you'll find the peace of mind we call "crumple zones." During certain collisions, these crumple zones are designed to absorb crash energy, helping to protect you and your passengers.Dual Air Bags
In the event of certain head-on collisions, the Infiniti I30 will inflate air bags* for both the driver and front seat passenger. To help ensure the operation of this system, every collision sensor is plated in 24-karat gold. This gold coating, however attractive it may sound, has a much more practical function, which is to resist corrosion of crucial parts. Protection like this is literally as good as gold.
*With a passenger side air bag, please be aware that a rear-facing child restraint must NOT be placed in the front passenger seat and should only be used in a rear seat. Always follow the child restraint manufacturer's instructions. See the vehicle Owner's Manual for details on proper seat belt and child restraint use.
Adjustable Front Shoulder Belts
One of the biggest complaints about shoulder safety belts is how uncomfortable they can be. With the I30's adjustable driver's and front passenger's shoulder belt anchors, you can adjust the height of the belt to the most comfortable position.
Anti-Lock Braking System
During abrupt braking situations, the I30's ABS pulses serveral times a second, allowing you to stop while maintaining your ability to steer around an obstacle. In certain emergencies, that could be the difference between an accident and a close call.
Side Door Guard Beams
To protect passengers in the event of a side collision, every door in the Infiniti I30 features side door guard beams. An improvement that helps the I30 meet 1997 federal standards.
Security System
An anti-theft system engages automatically when you lock your I30. The alarm system sounds the horn, flashes the headlights and disables the starter motor when unauthorized entry is attempted. Once the system is triggered, it can be deactivated with your keyless remote entry system or it will reset itself in 60 seconds.
