the deformation index may give you some information as to the materials and compounds and structural integrity of the tire under normal operating conditions but does it weigh the integrity of the tire if it is used outside of its definition. i think it would be wise to conduct tests in oposition to this definition and under adverse conditions such as driving in reverse, etc. to suggest that your explanation is a final answer is ludicous at best (roger is more informative and i suggest you read some of his previous posts relative to this matter).
