205/50 15 vs. 205/45 16

I'm thinking about buying some rims, but not sure if the extra weight and bigger diam. of the 16" will degrade performance. I drive a '92 sentra SE-R,I know 16" looks better but I race a few times a year so kinda worried about the performance, stock size is 185/60 14. ANY comments appreciated.
