I spent an hour a couple of days ago reading old posts here and it seems there is some consensus that the Michelin Alpins are a superior tire to most other winters tires. The xm&s Alpins have been replaced this year by the Artic Alpins, which my dealer says are better on ice than the xm+s. I bought the Artic Alpins yesterday and I can report that they are very quiet and handle extremely well on dry pavement....I almost can't wait for the next snow storm.
