Should I change tire size from 215/55/16 to 225/50/16?

I am unsure if I shouls do this! I have been told the change would "work", but I want to to reap some benifits! My vehicle is a 1995 L Legend Sedan. I want my vehicle to handle well as well as remain quiet. I also do not want to feel every bump in the road. I would appreciate comments about the change in tire size.Thanks!!!
