I own a 1997 Ford F-150 4X4 Automatic transmission, 3.55 rear end that came standard with P235/70/R16 tires I affectionately call my bicycle tires as they look so small on my truck. I am considering putting LT265/75/R16 all terrain tires on it, but have been told that increasing to a larger diameter tire such as the 265's could and might damage the transmission, computer monitoring systems, abs, etc. Has anyone done such a similar replacement and if so what have been your results? Also I was told that the computer system on the 95 and 96 old body style truck could be recalibrated through a re-programmable speed sensor. Does anyone know if this is possible on the 97's?
Thanks for any and all help
