I have an '88 Plymouth Voyager that is just a shade under 100K. Stock tire size is 195/75R14. I do city driving, and interstate. We have moderate snowfall in Pittsburgh. (In the past. Who knows what this winter will bring?) I also chauffeur my preschoolers and friends around.
All of the comparison tests are on sedans - no minivan info.
I like a handling tire. Used to autocross in my single, pre-kid days. I'm looking for a moderate priced tire that will brake well and handle decently, especially to reduce the feel that the minivan is tipping over (not especially evident on my current tires compared to a friend's Toyota minivan). I'm also concerned about hydroplaning, and of course, I want a tire that wears well.
My research is pointing to BFG T/A SR4, Bridgestone Turanza T QL20, Pirelli P400, Goodyear Aquatred II. No info on Dunlop D65, but I saw the D60 A2 was reted best by Consumer Reports in '95. Any input?
Also, any positive mail order experiences? Other websites I should check out?
