In Toronto, I'd consider snow tires myself. But if the BFG's suited you fine the X1's should also. Slightly harder compound obviously, so they may offer a little less traction just as the road starts getting wet, but after that they have good siping, and the lateral grooves are up to par for any all season tire in the snow.
