Firestone SH-30's any good for 944 performance?

The guy at TireRack recomended a few tires for my 944, among which were the SH-30's. Since these are a new tire (I guess), all I can get are brochures that say they are great (naturally). Any experience? How about noise? The brochures brag about everything except fuel economy, and low rolling resistance. The car has only 150 or so HP so I hate to push a thick tire around just to get racing stick. Considering the Pirelli 6000sv and the expensive Michelin Energy whatevers that BMW"s come with. Thanks for any thoughts.
