Joe is correct on all accounts but one. The size of the contact patch doesn't increase! It does not matter what size "plus" option you change to. All things being equivalent, e.g. air pressure, vehicle weight, etc., The contact patch changes shape not size. Or more specificly, the volumeor area of rubber in the contact patch or in contact with the road surface. With the exact plus fitment you are looking at the contact patch will become wider and not as long.
