Good muscle car tires?

Hey there. I just stumbled across this BBS and was wondering what advice anyone
could give me about tires for my '65 Dodge Coronet:

First - what brands does anyone recommend?

I have BFG Radial T/A's currently (215/60r14 front and 245/60r14 rear);
they're okay, but I want better handling and traction. The BFG's were never
great in the rain, and the more they wear, the worse they get.

Due to $$$ problems I'm stuck with the 14" X 7" mag rims I have on the car now.
Not many options in wide 14" sizes, though... BFG's, Goodyear Eagle ST's and
Dunlop Radial G/T Qualifiers seem about it in the sizes I'd want (or maybe M/T's
or Hoosier Radials, though I'd prefer tires I can order from the Tire Rack).
I'm either going with 245/60 or 235/60 all around. (The "big and little" tire
combo sucks for handling and ride quality...)

Anyone use the Dunlop's? I've heard good things about their tires, but not
specifically the Radial G/T's.

Second - what about tire sizes? The 245's look good on the rear, but I'm
wondering if that's too much tread from the front tires. The handling will
probably improve, but will the tires rub? What about rolling resistence and
mileage?

Also, am I going to deteriment my suspension and ride height with the 245/60 or
235/60 series tires? The original spare is a 26" diameter tire, so I assume that's
the stock size. The 245's are 25.4" and the 235's 25.1" tall. One inch doesn't
seem like much of a change, but I know revs will be up...

I just want to improve the ride I have now, which sucks, and still keep more
rubber to the road.

Thanks for any recommendations or experiences,

Laszlo
