To say that the SP4000 has "better" handling in snow would be an understatement. I've heard that the SP8000 will spin helplessly in the white stuff - it's a summer tire, so the decision here comes down to whether or not you intend to ever use the tires in the snow, because you may not get to where you're going with the SP8000s in winter. I'm planning on buying SP8000s and another set of wheels with Arctic Alpin snow tires.
