When you live in an area where the temp. is regularly in the low 39s and the weather is inclement I would suggest a good set of winter tires. Bridgestone Blizzak, which provide consistent performance or Pirelli Winter Ice Direzionale (increased noise due to tread design) but provide exceptional traction. Then, mount the free 306s for the three seasons.

Otherwise, the D60 is a great choice, stick with 215-60 if you want better traction via improved acceleration and braking (you compromise with more noise and 4 mm lower profile) or 205-65 for increased fuel mileage and a higher profile which is beneficial for rim resistance to potholes.
