I've got a 98 Ford Windstar Minivan with P215-70R15 Goodyear Invista tires
with about 35K on them. I'm getting a lot of vibration from the tires at between
60 and 65 mph. At first I thought it was the balancing of the tires, but have been
told by an independant dealer that my tires - even though the tread seems fine - are
causing this problem by developing raised edges on portions of the treads causing a 'rumbling'
condition at these speeds. I was shown the 'raised' edges, which
were present but don't know if this is a common condition or if
I'm buying into a bunch of BS. If anyone is aware of this condition, is it
something that occurs with all tires or certain grade of tire from particular manufacturers?
Can anyone recommend a manufacturer which might be less prone to this condition?
