My wife has Blizzaks on her Mazda 626 and loves them. I'm not sure if you really need them on the Alaska Highway though. I've been on it and while it's not the interstate, it's not too bad. I know a lot of guys who work in Northern Alberta and Northern BC (Alaska highway country) and they get by with all seasons in a four wheel drive (through some pretty rough country and heavy snow). The ones that I've heard good things about are the Michelin LTX M&S. A guy I knew was having bad luck with his orignial tire (Good Year Wranglers?, standard issue on SUVs) and put the Michelins on. They performed so well he put them on his wifes Explorer.

If I were you I'd stick with the LTX. They're a good all round tire and they're not so soft they need to be changed out later. I know with my wifes Blizzaks, they have to come off in the spring. Handling is plain goofy in warm weather and they get chewed up really fast.

Let us know what you bought and how you made out.
Al
