Regarding temp. spares, it is also important to remember that they are only rated at 50-100 miles of use, and are not safe under normal speeds. While not as easy to store, many people go to a scrap yard and buy a plain, full size, steel wheel, and mount a full size tire on it. This works well for people who do alot of long distance driving.
