No, they're not too big at all. A friend of mine has a 1994 Prelude VTEC running 225/50-15 (the proper size up--not 225/55-15 like you mentioned earlier) Dunlop SP8000s. Get them now...they are the best tire out there (summer only, though...not all season) and are being phased out (why? no one knows). I also run the SP8ks on my '93 Mazda MX-6LS whose stock tire size (like the 'lude's) is 205/55-15...but I went up to the 225/50s. Same rolling circumference...better grip. I autocross on the SP8ks, as do at least 5 other guys I know...we all love them. I have yet to even make them squeal! Good luck...I hope this helps.
