Just purchased and installed a set of Pirelli P7000 Supersport Tires (205 50 16)
from Tire Rack for my 95 Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon. They cost $106 each plus
shipping and installation. Thought I would share my initial observations since I spent
so much time unsuccesfully searching the web for feedback on new tire experiences
on this car. This tire is a nice performing tire. It provides excellent road feel and
fantastic cornering. The only problem is that these tires provide every bit as harsh a
ride as the original Pilot MXM HX tires. I haven't tested them in rain yet but this
version of the P7000 is supposed to perform well in rain. While I was having them
installed I ran into a service advisor that seemed more well informed on ultra high
performance tires than most folks I have run into at tire stores. His first
recommendation for tires for this car was a Nitto NT-450. I have heard or read
good things about these tires but hesitated to buy them since they are not name
brand tires. He also told me that the Pirelli P7000 supersports are only good
performers on a few cars. Luckily Volvo is one of them. After I have had a bit
more experience with my P7000s I'll post an update to this message.
