I have a Chevy truck (S-10) with Uniroyal Tiger Paws as original factory installed tires. Have 11,000 miles on them and have been no where with the truck where I could get a nail or cut in the tires. Driving on open, flat, dry highway the other day(15 Oct 97) at 70 MPH and left rear tire blew. Took several hundred feet to get off the roadway. By the time I stopped, tire wall was gone. Took the tire in to a Merchant's Tire Co shop in Springfield, VA,(they deal in Uniroyals) and had tire replaced. Asked them for prorated cost deduction based upon tire defect (Merchant's could not find a reason for the tire to blow). They were told by Uniroyal dealer that they would not honor the replacement via limited warranty. Their reason: not enough left of the tire to support my claim of tire defect. Boy, that's customer service for you. Like others I've heard, not going to use Uniroyals again.
