Hmmm. Might be on to something here. '97 Malibu, same problem. 36K miles, time for new tires. Inflation has never exceeded tirewall, and I keep it around 30 psi, a little over the door sticker recommendation, but not enough to account for this. Firestone blamed balance or alignment? Neither creates this kind of isolated wear pattern. I've always been a bit suspicious of the Malibu's suspension behavior. Curious.
