Judi:

The Michelin tires (in fact all tires) develope sidewall cracks from the cleaner that you or your detail shop uses. We have aquired this problem with a brand new cars too (from the dealership.) We recommend not using an alchohol based cleaner on your tires because the alchohol dries up the rubber and allows the sun to dry it up easier also.
If you go to a certified michelin dealer who knows their stuff they could call Michelin and get a goodwill adjustment for you. Usually a goodwill adjustment is where Michelin will pay half the cost of new replacement Michelins XW4's. You although would have to pay the installation cost though. Just to give you a head start in front of the dealers in your area.
