If the suspension on the Acura were set up for a performance tire, I'd rather have an H rated
performance tire than the V rated crappy (in my book at least) all-season tire included with
the car. Given the choice between the OEM V rated tire and say an H rated Yokohama A032R,
I'd take the Yoko any day as it will provide MUCH more dry traction, steering response,
and braking performance, the only deficiency will be wet traction (since I deal with snow
so little, I ignore it). The speed rating isn't the end say for the tires ability ... and
some V rated tires are pretty crappy with crappy construction IMHO. Also, just because
Acura put a V rated tire on the car doesn't mean the car requires such a tire. We're
leasing a '98 Millenia right now. The base model comes with H rated tires, but we got the
Premium Package which includes alloy rims and V rated tires, but no changes in the
suspension. So here's an identical car which comes with both H and V rated tires .....
the point, just because the car comes with V rated tires doesn't mean it requires them,
and I'd MUCH rather have a much better H rated tire than a crappy V rated tire .... and
all for the same price many times.
