I have a 94 VW Passat GLX with 16" TSW Hock R wheels.
I currently have 205-45-16 Toyo FZ4 tires on it, which I bought last year. I have not been happy with the way these tires fit the vehicle (too short) and handle. I went to the store where I bought them and made a deal with them to buy a new set of tires.
The store has agreed to give me $420.00 for the one year old (5500 mi.) Toyos. I ordered a set of Michelin MXX3 Pilot tires, 215-45-16. My cost after trade in will be $120.00 each mounted. When I spoke to the tire rack about these tires, they told me that they are too much tire for this car. They recommended the Pirelli P7000 tire.
I could probably get the Pirelli tire for about $55.00 each, if they still give me the original amount agreed upon for the trade.
I also have a new sport utility, so this vehicle is not driven a lot. When I do drive it, I drive it hard. I have made some performance mods to the vehicle, and will probably upgrade the suspension soon. I may even enter it in an autocross this summer.
Would you recommend my getting the MXX3, or is the Pirelli comparable.
Thanks.
