Yes, I have heard of Star Tires. In fact, I haven't yet been conviced to buy anything but. I work as a bookkeeper/secretary/office manager/customer service rep for a local tire dealer/auto repair shop (P & J Tire Service, Inc., Jewett City, CT, USA). Our major stock brand of tires is "Star," a brand by The Kelly-Springfield Tire Co., a division of The GoodYear Tire and Rubber Co. (Your friend was right about it being associated with GoodYear.) I like the "Super Star Radial GT - SR." It comes in almost every popular size, ffrom 175/70R13 to 295/50R15, most available in raised white letters. I also like the light truck tire "Trail Buster Radial APR" - I don't have a truck, but if I did, it would be wearing APR's - also available in most of the popular sizes, from 215/75R15 to 33X12.50R15 to 285/75R16, most available in outlined white letters. (I'm currently looking for a link to "Star Tires" to add to my employer's web-page-in-the-making. Sorry, no URL quite yet.)
