If this subject has been answered before, please point me to the post because I'm having difficulty loading up the whole BBS to find it....

I have a Bridgestone RE010 that suffered a puncture awhile back without my knowledge... I say this because I just happened to notice the head of a nail sticking out of the tire, but I never experienced any loss in tire pressure in that particular tire. Judging by the wear on the nail head, it's been there for quite some time.

Just when I was planning to have it removed, a colleague informed me that that by using a tire plug to repair the damage, I will lose the speed rating on the tire. Is this true? My car will see some roadracing this summer, and I expect speeds to be quite high.... should I risk it or spend the extra $$$ to get a new tire?

THanks

Ben
