I work in the tire industry and have a 1998 Transport(not a Montanna). I took the General tires off when
new and replaced them with a Yokahama Avid T touring tire. I also changed sizes from the 20570r15
to 21565r15 to give the vehicle more stability. I now have 32000 km on the tires driven
in western Canada's mountain winter conditions and a 10,000 km trip to Ohio. The tires are rotated every
10,000 km and I expect to get at least 100,000 km out of them. I have had the vehicle to the dealer twice, once for a
motor mount that was loose from the factory and once to replace a headlight that lost
it's seal and moisture was inside.
The tires I changed to made the vehicle handle a bit better, come with a 24 hour roadside
put your spare on warranty and look better than the OE tires. Depending on where the vehicle
is driven will make a difference of the type of tire, but if your looking for good tire
life look into the touring type of tires, a dealer that has good warranty, rotate them
every 8000 to 10,000 km and avoid doing wheel stands :)
