Uncanny! The exact, same thing happened to me with my '96 Toyota Supra TT with OE Bridge-
stone Potenza tires on. And Bridgestone & Firestone are made by the same company. The guy
at the Bridgestone store told me the same thing, that it wasn't their fault. Luckily the
tire blew up on the exit ramp and not on the freeway. At any rate, it's time for me to buy
new tires and I was thinking of getting Firestone Firehawk SZ50's, but these posts have
made me rethink my options.
