I guess Bridgestone received too many complaints about the poor durability of the original Blizzaks. There is no doubt that the WS-15 is a super ice/snow tire but the 55% ice compound thing is annoying a lot of people. The MZ-02 with it sharder compound maybe an attempt by Bridgestone to cover all bases. This tire seems to provide less grip but longer life to satisfy those driving in less extreme weather. Interestingly enough, prices for the two tires are the same.
