How worn down can you let a tire go???

I have BF Goodrich Toruing TA's with over 50,000 Miles or 80,000 Km's on them. I've got about an a 1/4" of tread left. The wear bar is a little over 1/8th" below the tire surface. Should I look at getting new tires now?
