Consumer Report February 1997 issue -
Tests on the most purchased 10 all season radials in America in 1996 had the Pirelli P400 on top. The tests include Braking (dry/wet/ABS), Cornering (dry/wet), Emergency Handling, Hydroplaning, Ride Comfort, Noise (smooth/coarse pavement), and Rolling Resistance.
In order:

Pirelli P400 touring
Dunlop SP40 A/S
Goodyear Regatta
Cooper Lifeliner Classic II
Kelly Springfield Navigator 800S
Firestone FR680
General Ameri G4S
Michelin XW4
Goodyear WeatherHandler (Sears)
BF Goodrich Advantage

I have had no experience with any of these and post this information for general knowledge. Please check your local library for that issue.
