You are correct it is a narrower width that helps with snow tires. A higher profile though does help since the tire is slightly less rigid therefore you won't break traction as quickly. Anyway Blizzacks are the best in traction of studless tires but fall on their face hard on one major aspect, tire wear/life. A major consideration with these tires is that you are only going to get 15k optimistically out of them. Thats only two winters for me. Hakkas don't have quite the traction of Blizzacks but are very close and so far have 25k on them and are only half worn. I've owned both. The blizzack to me is only better on ice and slightly better on snow.
