Go with the Michelins...the Pirelli P4000 "Supertouring"is pretty nice too, though not a "super" tire in the handling department (as its "touring" designation suggests)..surely the equal of (or better than) the factory tires, though..Also consider moving up to a 215-60-15 (or if a change in wheels is ok, go 16s and 215-55-16---Mercedes and others have discovered this great new size...) for better handling. While it is true that both of these (esp 215-60-15) are just slightly short of true "Plus Zero," these sizes should be within acceptable norms...especially if the Avalon has the same width restrictions as the Camry (96s and earlier, anyway)..in that they cannot take 225-60-15s (true Plus Zero from the factory 205-65-15s) or 225-55-16, true Plus Ones)...Also, though even the Tire Rack shows few options yet, one might consider the "new" 205-60-16 being fitted to the recent top Accords and the new Camry Solara. This would be the minimum "Plus One" from the factory Avalon tires.
Good luck!
