I'm struggling with the same question, although I need better snow performance. (We don't get it too often, but when we do - we had 12" on the ground last November.) -- The Consumer Report on the AVID(H-rated version) found decent performance _except_ in the snow. It didn't go in the snow. Other postings here have indicated serious problems with the 4000SP in the wet. -- The XGT V4 has the same tread pattern as the O.E. XGT H4s (no longer available in 205-55-15) that came on my 626. Unlike others, I've had good luck with the tires in all conditions, inc. wet & snow. So I'm thinking seriously about going with the "V" version. -- Another possibility: have you checked out the BFG Touring T/A V4? It got good marks for wet and snow in the CR tests. I suspect it wouldn't handle as well as the XGTs.
