The statement that you are losing traction because of a wider tire is false. True the contact pressure at any given point on the tire is less than the contact pressure on the slimmer tire, but the added contact surface area, and resulting friction, increases the overall traction of the tire. Why else would your high HP sports cars be running 250+ mm wide tires. Now your new tires are probably made of a different compound which is also a factor, that must be considered too.
