I Have a '97 Volvo 850 T-5 sedan with 32,000 miles. I live in Santa Fe which has mixed
driving conditions all winter and I drive over 100 miles every day. This past winter
(Oct-Apr) I ran Yokoham Guardex tires (195/60 15) on steel wheels. They were a little
squirrly, but I never slipped once all winter. Now it's time to replace the OEM tires:
Michelin XGT V4 (205/55 16). While I like the way they handle, I can't say I'm thrilled
with the tread life. So I'm looking for a performance tire that can handle summer monsoon
weather, but doesn't need to deal with snow and ice AND I'd like a little better tread
life then the OEM tires. I'm prepared to pay ~150/tire, but less would be nice. I REALLY
like the Goodyear GSCs I had on my Ford Probe (225/50 16), but the tread had pretty big
blocks and looked pretty agressive. I'm thinking it might look wierd on the Volvo.
Any Ideas? (of course you have ideas!)
