I ended up getting Pirelli P400APT's (they were on sale at Tire Rack)
I'm pretty happy with them (so far) but we haven't had too much in the
way of big snows, so I can't tell you anything about their snow performance.
I have heard some very good things about Michelin LTX MS, but they would have
cost 2x the price I paid.
For the Safari, I would recommend you get at least the Light Truck tires.
The weight on the front end, especially with the AWD transmission, can really
wear the tires out in a hurry. Something with a heavier load rating should
wear longer when they're up in front. Also I've learned that tire rotation
is much more critical to tire wear with the Safari XT AWD.
