The original tire size for your 240 is 185-R14, not 185-70R14 if you look inside the passenger side door above the latch. I replaced the original Michelins on my '90 240 wagon with Michelin MX4's in the 185-R14 size as spec'd. They are good all season radials and I am quite happy with them, however I am considering getting some winter tires in addition to these as I live in MN. Hope this helps.
