I drive a '95 Teg and I'm wearing Firestone Firehawk SS20's, and I have about 16K miles on them. Here's my quesiton-- I recently got a flat on one of the tires. I got it patched, but the tire is continuting to lose air and cannot keep its pressure. I need to replace the tire, but i am not sure if I should replace just the damaged one, a set of 2, or the whole set. The tread on all tires is still very deep. Thanks for your advice. IP: Logged |

It makes most sense to replace 3 of the tires since one is already flat and needs replacing. This way you have a complete set.IP: Logged |

You should check your spare tire, and if it's good, buy one tire that matches the size and brand/"model number" of your spare. THen put the new tire and the spare tire on the same axle...(take the spare tire off the spare wheel and mount it on your regular wheel). Keep the two good tires that you have now on the same axle, and as for the remaining third, put it back on the spare wheel. Does this make any sense? Of course, this is assuming that you have a full size spare.IP: Logged |

Use caution when circulating an 'old' spare into daily use. I have a policy for spare tires that are stored on the exterior of a vehicle which limits their daily use to five years. If the spare is older than five years, I refuse to mount it for daily use. There have been a number of law suits in the tire industry regarding this topic. This becomes especially important if the spare tire has ever been repaired. Moisture can penetrate the steel belts resulting in tread separation. Good Luck! IP: Logged | |
