Hi,

I own a nice loaded 1977 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham 4d Sedan. I am looking around to find some good winter tires for my car.

Unfortunately, most of the tires I find are too small for my car. I need 225/75R15 and I am currently looking into the Cooper Weather-Master S/T and the Hercules Polar Trax. I can't find much information out on the Internet about those two brands.

Does anybody in here now anything about the Cooper's and the Hercules I mentioned above? And how do these tires stack up to the Michelin's, Dunlop’s and whatever?

I drive my car on mostly dry pavement. We do get the occasional winter storm with icy and somewhat snow-covered roads, but this happens only rarely.

I like the Cooper Weather-Master S/T for it's price, but if the Cooper has lousy qualities on dry/ icy/ wet/ some snow- like roads, I'd like to go elsewhere...

Is there anyone in here that can give me some pointers about good tires and especially information about the Cooper and the Hercules I talked about earlier?

I'd love to talk to anyone who can help!

Yours sincerely,

Roy

Hi Roy,
I searched three web sites for your tire size. http://www.tirerack.com/index.jsp Only listed Firestone WinterFire. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/ Only listed Michelin Arctic Alpin.
However, http://www.1010tires.com/ Listed eleven tires from nine major manufactures. The November 2002 issue of Consumer Reports magazine has their results of winter tires test. Most libraries subscribe to it. Hercules were not tested. Cooper Weather-Master XGT came in dead last.
