Is it ok to use their 335/30/18 tire on aa 11.5" rim even though their specifications indicate the proper size rim would be 12"-13" ????Anyone know for certain? I heard the Pilot Sport is a "smaller" tire, and would fit perfectly.... IP: Logged |

The obvious answer is no, otherwise they would have included the 11 1/2" width in their range of acceptable rim widths. Also, just because a tire is "small" doesn't mean it will fit on a smaller wheel. The "small" might mean small in diameter, which doesn't address the width (the important item here.) I don't know specifically about the Pilot Sport, but other of Michelin lines have been known to have several different sizes produced out of the same mold, so they were both "small" and "large". There is a lot of sense to do things that way, but I'll bet a tire of this size, which is a unique size and at the high end of the $$ range, it would not make much sense to skimp on material to save a couple of $$. Hope this helps. IP: Logged | |
