JohnfromArkansas unregistered	posted October 14, 2002 06:02 PM I've had Cyclone GT's on my 78 Corvette for 2 years - it's a show car and I hardly drive it - have about 900 mi on them. They are P295 70 15's. This weekend I was driving up to 110mph to enjoy my car and charge up the battery. Had the belts separate and then a blow out. These tires scare me! I'm changing to Goodyear Eagles - I say stear clear of Sumitomo! IP: Logged
Driver Dan unregistered	posted October 19, 2002 03:16 PM The Sumitomos I had would skid around corners with any sort of moisture on the ground because the rubber compound is so hard. That's their sales pitch, "The longest lasting tires you'll ever own," as it was told to our fleet manger by the Sumitomo rep. My belts also separted on my steering tires at about 65 mph, but the difference here is that there were 80,000 lbs. of freight on 18 wheels staring me in the eyes when it happened. IP: Logged
