Recnetly purchased a new suburban with 500 miles on it. We were told it was a demo for the dealership. The dealer is a close friend. After driving on highway 70 miles per hour, I had severe vibration. Called onstar without any diagnostic explaination. Took to dealer for repair. Tires balanced and weights "moved" last Thursday. One day after picking up the repaired new balanced suburban, the severe vibration happened again. Went to the dealer again today and vibration could not be reproduced. It stopped. The service forman said the explaination for the vibration was that the suburban sat on the lot since May, not driven much and the heat may have effected the tires and it would eventually work itself out. What if I bought a wrecked call and not knowing it. Is this normal for a brand new 2002 suburban? SusanIP: Logged |

no way with so few miles on it. i once let a car sit for almost a year. the tires had a flat spot on them but it smoothed out on its own in about 1 week. sounds like your tires are bad, like have more miles than 500 miles and were not rotated properly, or could be defective from the start. anyway, since you just bought it, i would insist on replacement tires and this should clear up the vibration. you know it is the tires if the vibration occurs mostly at highway speeds, like above 60 mph. you said the dealer is a friend, so go ask your friend to straighten out the problem. truck tires wear fast especially without rotations done because of weight, solid suspension, height in cornering, etc... they will cup quickly and tend to vibrate from that but not after only 500 miles. go have the dealership get you a new set of tires-free of course.IP: Logged |
