Topic: visible small valleys on tire sidewall

Recently, I just had a new tire installed for my Toyota Sienna at the rear right side. In 2 weeks, I noticed there are three visible low valleys on outside sidewall of the new tire. The depth of the valley is between one-tenth to one-fifth of an inch. I asked the auto shop and checked with my Toyota dealer. I was told that the tire is normal and there is no any safety issue about the valley. However, I am not confortable with the valleys at all. Any comments? ThanksIP: Logged |

What you have are called indentations. This is where the ply fabric is overlapped in the building process. Since you have 3 of these, this is probably a 2 ply tire. These areas are actually stronger than the surrounding areas ( extra ply material). They are harmless except for their appearance.If you look (or feel) carefully, you will find at least one on every tire. Check the other tires on your car and see for yourself. If after doing so, you are still concerned, take the tire back and see what options are available. hope this helps. IP: Logged | |
