Recently became aware the Firestone Lemans HR tires on my car are shot-failed in less than 2 years and 20,000 miles. But since I bought the car used last fall, no tire warranty transferred to me, so am out of luck,as usual. Am trying to be an informed buyer and not get screwed again, but after three days of visiting and calling local dealers, have come to the conclusion they are tring to sell me what they want to get rid of, not what is best for me. Today I discovered the many sources of info on the internet, and came up with a few prospects on my own.Any opinions on: Dunlop SP Sport A2, Bridgestone Potenza RE 950, or Firestone Affinity LH 30? We drive less than 9,000 miles per year, commute about 20 miles round trip to work, & may drive a few hundred miles to the shore once a year. Want a tire good in moderate snow, a semi-comfortable ride, and I don't want to have to replace them again in two stinking years! Never aspire to drive up to 130 miles per hour, but seemingly have to keep to an H speed rating. OR can I drop down to an S or T in a Honda Accord EX?IP: Logged |

i doubt you will be able to get any credit from firestone on those tires that only ran 20,000miles. sorry.here are some tires that will last a lot longer than that and offer year round safety: Goodyear Aquatred 3 $68 Bridgestone BT70s $51 Yokohoma Avid Touring $44 Michelin X-One $93 Now Toyo makes the Ultra which is guaranteed for 100,000 miles but they are harder to come by(less dealers available), don't know how they would do in light snow(i would guess above average though) and do not know their cost. Of the list above, the last two tires will offer longer tread life. I put down prices from tirerack.com which I have found to be the most knowledgeable and affordable. I have purchased tires from them since 1994. You do not need H speed rated tires on a 1994 Honda Accord EX. They came with S speed rated tires. Hope this helps you out.
