has anyone bought these? I have a camry LE that i am needing new tires. why doesn't the michelin web site mention these? i can understand that michelin makes special for sam's but if so, what is the closest model from michelin? thanks, joe

I looked into this issue not too long ago. Costco (Price Costco), on the West coast only, also sells Michelin X Plus. It is the same as the X One from Michelin. The sales rep pointed out to me the difference: with the X Plus (for discount stores only), the only difference is that the siping on the tread blocks does not completely go thru the tread block, while it goes completely thru on the X One. (Look at a picture on the web). I think you can presume that because of this, the X Plus would not have as much hydroplane resistance. However, since the siping does not continue thru to the other side of the tread block, the tread block can be stiffer and have less squirm, thus helping dry cornering. And it may also ride stiffer. IMHO.

I owned a set of the Costco version for about 20K miles on my '97 Subaru Outback wagon. I loved them. They were a very good match for this car and rode quite well. Wet and dry traction were very good. Unfortunately we'll never know how well they would have done long term since my poor Outback got crunched back in November (but that's another story).
