almaggThis car has a narrow wheel base - 103"
Bought used 1 year ago. Currently 76k miles.
Driving conditions: definitely no snow.

Went to have tires rotated and balanced because of knocking and I told the guy I was not happy with the highway handling and was thinking about wider tires i.e. I couldn't relax, and he pointed out the tires were shot - admittedly they were.

So he puts on S rated tires, same size - definitely not good on the highway, in fact worse than the old tires. But they felt sooooo good on the city streets. Went back and from a posted suggestion asked about the shocks and struts - they needed to be replaced and were.

We also put on P205/60R14 and these were greeaaat on the highway but terrible on the streets, plus I found out after the fact that the odometer and speedometer readings are off.

Sooo decided to go to a T tire. Specifically Toyo 800 Ultra 90T 100k 700AB.

They perform adequately on the highway and are okay on the street. Have read some negatives baout Toyo on this board.
But again after the fact I find out that the higher ratings mean a 'stiffer' tire hence less comfort.

So what I would like is exceptional highway handling because of the narrow wheelbase without too much compromise in comfort(knowing I can't have everything).

Lifeliner SLE 91T 70k 620AB
Cobra GT 90T 50k 440AB
Sportmaster GLT 91T 50k 360AB

Regatta 2 90T 85k 620AB

Or any other suggestions? I get the feeling that if I go lower on the ratings, but with the right tire, I can pick up some comfort because the rubber won't be as 'hard'.

I think Toyo is not the one and with a Buick I kinda would like to have a 'local' brand - know what I mean?:-).

Much obliged.

FTR - the car is great; compliments about the looks; the 3.1ltr V6 feels good on the highway.

Much obliged.
