wgI just wanted to post my thoughts on the avs db...I bought them for my wifes 98 jag xj6l...the big sedan..Its just super in the rain. I was thinking it would be very close to a touring tire due to the high ratings for ride and sound......I think its very quite for a ultra HP with a good ride in that class but would guess its near the bottom of a class with touring tires..I guess its 5-10% louder and a 10-15% harsher ride than my 98 Mercedes wagon with old Mich.Energy MX4 plus. I would buy these with no questions for a HP car driven fast but for a touring sedan its sort of a tough choice..I have driven 10000 miles and you can't see much wear at all...
GAThanks for the report, that is very useful. I am currently looking at either purchasing the AVS db's or Dunlop SP Sport A2's for my wife's "touring" sedan. I wonder if the A2's would be quieter than the db's? Assume yes, anyone know?
ron516I have the A2's on my on my 01 Malibu LS and they are quiet tires compared to the factory firestone's. They also handle much better but have a very firm ride, they exhibit the strange characteristic of getting flatspots when the car sits overnight and the temperature is below freezing. Overall I like the Dunlop's, they are great in the rain and up to about 3" of snow was no problem today here in Chicago.
wg this is what I got from the tire rack site on the a2's so it seems to me they might be loud and stiff...this first is from the tire rack test...the rest are from owners..On the road, the SP Sport A2 offered very good ride comfort and moderate road noise, receiving the highest marks of the three tires tested. I went from the stock Michelin MXV4 Plus in a 195/65/R15 size to the Dunlops in a 205/50/16. Handling was much better, less apparent body roll. A marginally rougher ride but well worth the improvement in handling. Traction under both wet (especially) and dry was greatly improved. There was only a slight increase in noise (the Michelins are quieter.

These tires are an upgrade in size,195/60/15 vs. 185/65/15, and quality versus the OE Firestone Affinities that come standard on an SL2 without the optional alloy wheel. The car is my daughter''s and I would not keep the OE rubber on given where she lives in the mid Hudson valley and amount of driving she does. I drive the car occasionally, including this weekend, and find the Dunlops to track and corner like glue in my favorite S curves. Sidewall is stiff and ride somewhat rougher than I expected

Went from Good Year Egales LS to the Dunlap A2s. The ride confort went from not great to terriable. I feel like I am driving a pickup truck. If you are going to spend a lot of time in the car doing highway driving get another tire.

I replaced my stock Michelins MXV+ with these Dunlop Sport A2. Intialy I liked them very much but now I feel they are not as good in wet traction as my old Michelins. Its hard to keep the car in a lane while making sharp turns. This is based on my comparison to my old tires. I also feel the new tires have stiffer side walls ( good sporty feel) but they dont have good traction.
