softballdadI would love opinions on purchasing tires from online dealers like Tire Rack. I was given some advice as to which tire to buy for my Maxima, and found it at the Tire Rack. My question is after you add the shipping charges is it worth buying on line? The tire I was advised to buy is made by Kumho, so it is possible it may be hard to find that brand at a regular retailer.

Any help is appreciated!!

donfromnaplesWell, I have purchased my last 4 sets of tires from and have saved at least $100 per set. Shipping added still gives you tires for less compared with local retailers on most accounts. TireKingdom in Florida carries Kumho tires. I think I paid like $12 extra per tire for shipping on my last Bridgestone Tires. Tire Kingdom wanted $121 each and I bought them for $96 each from including shipping. I saved my $100 by having the tires drop shipped to the Rick Johnson Tire near my house. Some tires cost as little as $8 each to ship and some as high as $14. Anyway, I will continue to buy this way to save myself money. You can find out how much the same tires cost by checking local shops like TireKingdom, Don Olson, Rick Johnson, Tiresplus, Sears, Sams, etc... I hope this helped you out. My email is if you have any other questions. Good luck.
airdoctorI have purchased tires for my truck and my wife's car from tire rack. Both times, I bought a wheel and tire combination. (snows on stock steel wheels). I got great pricing, fast delivery. I work in an automotive training school, and I had the tires checked by the instructor who specializes in suspension and wheels. He was very impressed with the quality of the tires and rims. He put the wheels on our computer balancing machine, and said they were perfectly balanced. He nearly flipped when I told him how little I paid. I just wish they'd start selling motorcycle tires!!
